Honey Oat Bread

Part of the reason  I ventured into thermal cooking was to see if I could stretch myself out of my cooking comfort zone and try new things.  In the past I have had so many cooking disasters, it has really put me off. I also lead a fairly busy life and resent spending hours in the kitchen.  I was hoping that this method would meet all of these needs.  So far, so good.  I have had a few whoopsies, but it has been fun!

Bread has always been a bit of a cooking holy grail for me.  My hubby makes bread in the bread maker, but  I dont really like it. In fact the smell of the bread cooking in the bread maker in the morning makes me feel ill. I know, strange!

I saw a recipe on Retromummy’s blog. Corrie has a thermomix and makes lots of yummy food for her family. So, I decided to give it a go.

Recipe was very easy to follow and I made mine in a loaf tin rather than in a square tin.  I proofed it in the ute as it was a warm day.

I was amazed that it worked so well.  The best thing was that is smelt pleasant and not overpowering.  We ate it slathered in Black olive tapenade from Providore in the Margaret River region and washed it down with ice coffee, made in the bellini of course!

I will definitely try that one again.

Rice biscuit choc balls.

These were going to be rum balls, but, seeing as I didn’t have any rum or marie biscuits I had to make do.

I found a rather old and crumbly packet of rice cookies in the cupboard and decided to use those.

I crumbled them up a bit in my hands to break them up and then whizzed them in the Bellini for about about 5 seconds on speed 6.

I then added 70gms cocoa, a cup of dessicated coconut and about 2/3 tin of condensed milk. I whizzed this for 5 seconds on speed 5.

It was pretty sticky and tricky to get out of the bowl.  I ended up removing the blades so I could scrape it all out.

It was so easy. Really the trickiest and most time consuming part was rolling them into balls and into the coconut.

After they set, they were consumed pretty quickly by the family.  Next time I will make a double batch!

Beginnings…….

To start off with, I hadn’t really thought of blogging my Bellini Adventure.  I just mucked around with the machine, seeing what it could do.

I didn’t take may photos, I just played.

I made some ice coffee’s which were well received by the kids.

Poached some eggs in the steamer and made a pumpkin and mushroom risotto. The risotto was a bit runny as I had steamed the pumpkin before adding it in.  It was a bit like pumpkin soup with rice in it. Mind you, it still tasted ok.

I downloaded the Bellini Addicts recipe book, joined the Bellini Addicts facebook page and downloaded the Thermo Food Pro Maxi Superchef cook book. I also just searched around the web looking for thermal cooking recipes.

The adventure had begun.
